Erin O'Reilly - Choreographer, dancer

Born in California in 1991, Erin O'Reilly first studied classical dance before joining the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance where she turned to contemporary dance at the age of 18. After two years in New York, driven by a curiosity for Europe, she joined the Ballet Junior de Genève in 2012.

At the end of this training she created and managed choreographic pieces with Junebug Company, with Sophie Ammann and Rosanne Briens. From 2015 to 2017 O'Reilly was active in the Company, with the short pieces Harmony in Blues, Two Blue and Carte Blanche , presented at the Plate-forme InciDanse in Fribourg, at the Mottatom in Geneva, at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, and at the 16th Street Musicians Festival in Novi Sad, Serbia. Their long piece WICCA premiered at the Théâtre de la Parfumerie in 2017 and was invited to tour the United Kingdom for Echo Echo Festival for Dance and Movement in Derry, Northern Ireland. Their projects are supported by the City of Geneva, Republic and Canton of Geneva, Corodis, SIG, Fluxum Foundation, Loterie Romande, Ernst Göhner Stiftung, Fondation Emilie Gourd, Stanley Thomas Johnson Foundation, and Swiss Cultural Fund UK.

In parallel with Junebug's work, O'Reilly has performed on stage for Geneva choreographers Laura Tanner, Marie-Caroline Hominal, Pauline Raineri, Marion Baeriswyl, Mike Winter, Edouard Hue, Ioannis Mandafounis, as well as for international companies and choreographers James Finnemore (UK), Brokentalkers Theatre Company (IE), Yotam Peled (DE) and Mark Lorimer (UK/BE/FR).

In 2021 she joined the Danse(in) team, a cultural mediation project organized by Mélanie Fréguin in collaboration with the collective housing centers of Tattes and Centre Rigot. Danse(in) welcomes the residents of these homes for artistic workshops with moments of exhibition and performance in various cultural venues in Geneva such as the Ariana Museum and the Bains des Pâquis. Through a commission from Danse(in) she created the duo Sink in collaboration with Sophie Ammann for the cultural programming of summer 2021 at the Bains des Pâquis. The duo is then reprogrammed for the Aubes Musicales at the Bain des Pâquis in 2022.

With Isabelle Schramm she co-choreographed the music video of the Geneva singer/musician Gaspard Sommer “Video Club”. Erin also collaborated on the videos “Thunder Cry” by We Are Interview (Geneva), and “Joie de Vivre” by Mongoose (Dublin IE).
