TACKY Productions

Sophie Ammann is a dancer, actress and choreographer based in Geneva, Switzerland. She trained as a dancer with the Tanz Akademie Zürich, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and the Ballet Junior de Genève. She trained as a clown with Hélène Vieilletoille, Hervé Langlois, Alexandra Gentile, Bruno Krief and Aitor Basauri. She also practices artistic whipping and fire-eating.

Since 2021, Sophie has been a choreographer and performer for Jo & Alex Productions alongside Pauline Raineri. They co-created the duo Femmosité, supported by the “Danse et Dramaturgie” program, at the Théâtre de l'Usine in 2019, and at the Théâtre de l'Oriental in 2020 for Les Chorégraphiques. Their duo JO & ALEX, which premiered at Pâquizarts at the Bains des Pâquis in 2023, won the Best Family Show award at the Reykjavík Fringe Festival 2024.

As a choreographer and performer for TACKY Productions, Sophie created the short form Brazenly Divine Super Marvel. The piece toured at the “Best Of” Scène Danse Fête de la Musique 2023, and the national tour RESO for the Fête de la Danse 2023. Internationally, the piece toured at the Festival Petit-Théâtre 1603, Gothenburg Fringe Festival and Stockholm Fringe Festival. At the Reykjavík Fringe Festival 2023 the piece won the “ACT ALONE” prize. Her next creation, Cramée, will be presented at the Théâtre de l'Etincelle from November 27 to 30, 2024.

Since 2023, Sophie has been part of the core group of the Cabaret Bon Et Tonifiant (formerly the Cabaret des Amis Savoureux). In addition to being a resident artist, together with Nathaly Leduc, Camille Tavelli and Raphaël Archinard, she takes care of the programming, organization and hosting of the BET Cabarets at La Gravière and the Théâtre de l'Orangerie.

From 2015 to 2017, she co-created and performed collective creations with Junebug Company with Erin O'Reilly and Rosanne Briens, including at the Théâtre de la Parfumerie, the Echo Echo Festival of Movement Derry, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

She also works regularly as a performer with Marie-Caroline Hominal, Cie STT (Delphine Lanza & Dorian Rossel), Samuel Pajand and Victor Roy, Woman's Move, (LA)HORDE, Beaver Dam, among others.
